Converse All Stars

First made in 1917, these absolute classics were designed by Converse. Contrary to popular belief they were not originally designed in consultation with Chuck Taylor, however they did become popular when basketballer Chuck Taylor decided to wear them on the court as his main choice. Strange as this was, due to lack of arch support, since then they’ve enjoyed practically constant adoption by a cross-section of the world’s shoe-wearers. In 2008 they are popular with indie-dressing youth and geeky types. They are surprisingly comfortable despite their simple make up.

Easy to find on the street, they are currently receiving a design renaissance and you should be able to find many varieties in any decent sports/street shoe store.

Adidas Campus

I love these shoes! So simple and so classic. A few years back I searched for these everywhere and finally found a reduced pair in my size for $20! The luck! These are still available in stores but not very often. Best to find them online as they are not hard to find through Google. There is also a very similar model around which says Gazelle instead of Campus in the gold writing on the side.
